What Makes the Perfect Face?

Over the years people have always been intrigued by beauty and perfection. So what makes the perfect face? Many authors have written on this topic and identified symmetry as the overriding factor in facial beauty, some even go as far as applying the mathematical theory of Pii to the face! Other features cited include the proportion of facial features and their positioning on the face and the facial shape in profile. However we know in reality that there is not one formula for beauty. Take a look at the people around you that you consider to be beautiful; friends, family, celebrities. How many of them actually fulfill the criteria of perfection? Often it can be the imperfections that enhance looks and  the way a person feels about themselves that is projected through the eyes and the way they carry themselves.

When considering aesthetic treatments the same applies. Learning to look at your face will help you to identify the features that you like and those which you may like to improve on and enhance.  Your face is individual to you and learning to be comfortable with yourself can be tricky but is beneficial in all aspects of life. When we shop for clothes the most common mistake is that people may be purely led by fashion. Clothes can be used to enhance our bodies and project our personalities. Fashion is fun and inevitably determines what is on sale in shops. Those who get it right, tend to shop with fashion in mind but also have a really good awareness of what flatters their particular shape and size. Your practitioner should be able to help you to look at your face and guide you to making realistic goals whether that includes proceeding with treatments or not.

When considering any aesthetic treatments it may be useful to think through the following: ·

What do I like about my face? ·

What would I like to improve? ·

Is it realistic? ·

Is it affordable?

During your consultation you will then be better prepared to identify what you are trying to achieve. Your practitioner will be able to take your goals into consideration and help you to develop a realistic plan using the following considerations: ·

Are the clients expectations realistic? ·

How will treating one area of the face affect the face as a whole? ·

Does the client understand the possible effects and side effects of the treatment they are asking for? ·

Is there any other advice the client may benefit from considering?

So remember … Look at your face, it  is a structural foundation that cannot be altered through medical aesthetic treatments but can be enhanced. Your face has its own unique qualities that make you individual, Angelina Jolie’s lips may look good on her face but may not suit yours! Perfection is not always achievable and not always desirable, beauty is much more than that! Ask your practitioner as many questions as you need before proceeding with treatments and don’t forget you are entitled to change your mind if you don’t feel comfortable.
