Masseter Botox London
If you’re dealing with jaw tension, teeth grinding, or headaches linked to clenching, Masseter Botox at London Professional Aesthetics may help. It’s the same trusted treatment we use for anti-wrinkle and excessive sweating care, carefully placed into the masseter muscle to relax it.
What Is Masseter Botox?
Masseter Botox is a treatment that uses botulinum toxin injections, placed carefully into the masseter muscle at the side of the jaw, to help relax it. It’s one of the ways we use Botox at LPA, alongside our anti-wrinkle and excessive sweating treatments, and it’s carried out with the same careful, dose-led approach.
Why Choose London Professional Aesthetics?
London Professional Aesthetics is a nurse-led clinic, registered with the CQC and Save Face, London’s trusted register of safe practitioners. Your treatment is carried out by our Clinical Director, Elizabeth Rimmer, or one of our highly experienced nurse practitioners.
We take a consultation-led approach to every treatment, which means nothing happens until we’ve properly discussed your symptoms, your goals, and whether Masseter Botox is the right fit for you.
Masseter Botox for Jaw Slimming / Facial Contouring
Many patients also find that relaxing the masseter muscle gives the lower face a softer, more balanced appearance over time. As teeth grinding or bruxism can result in hypertrophy of the muscle, botox injection can be used as a cosmetic solution to soften the jaw.
What Happens During Treatment?
Every Masseter Botox treatment starts with a consultation. We’ll talk through your symptoms and goals, and assess your jaw and muscle strength together.
As with all our Botox treatments, we then identify exactly where your masseter muscles lie, simply by asking you to bite down a few times. Using a fine needle, we carefully inject the treatment into the muscle, starting with the lowest dose likely to give you the result you need. The entire appointment itself takes approximately 30 minutes, with the treatment administration only taking a few minutes.
If this is your first time having Masseter Botox with us, we’d recommend booking a follow-up appointment so we can check in on your results together.
When Will I See Results, and How Long Do They Last?
You may notice results within a couple of days, with the full effect settling in over around two weeks. The relaxing effect typically lasts 3–6 months, and as with facial Botox, treatment can be repeated from around three months if needed.
Why Do People Consider Masseter Botox?
A large number of people experience some degree of teeth grinding, or bruxism, often without realising it, since it typically happens overnight while you’re asleep. It’s frequently linked to stress.
Left unaddressed, this can show up as a generalised feeling of tension in the jaw that may radiate into the neck and shoulders or forehead, pain in the jaw or TMJ, tension headaches, a bulkier jaw muscle, damage to the teeth themselves, and excessive clicking or locking of the jaw. Not everyone experiences all of these, and how much any of this affects you can vary.
How Does Masseter Botox Work?
Masseter Botox may help relieve symptoms of teeth grinding, jaw clenching and TMJ-related tension. Botulinum toxin injections are carefully placed into the masseter muscle to relax it, reducing the urge and impact of grinding without the need for a night guard.
Masseter Botox Price in London
Masseter/TMJ Botox at LPA costs £270–£395, depending on the dose you need. As with all our Botox treatments, we charge by the amount used rather than by treatment area, so you’re only ever paying for what your treatment actually requires.

£270–£395 per session at LPA, depending on the dose you need.
Can Masseter Botox help with teeth grinding or jaw clenching?
Many patients find it helps relieve the tension and symptoms associated with grinding and clenching, though it isn’t a cure for the underlying habit itself. The treatment can also help to relieve pain caused by excessive contraction of the muscle.
How long does Masseter Botox last?
Typically, relief from bruxism and TMJ-related symptoms lasts around 3–6 months following Masseter Botox injections.
When will I see the effects?
You may notice results within a couple of days, with the full effect settling in over around two weeks.
What happens during a Masseter Botox consultation?
We’ll assess your jaw and muscle strength, talk through your symptoms and goals, and agree a treatment plan together.
What are the possible side effects of Masseter Botox?
Side effects are generally uncommon when treatment is carried out by an experienced, skilled practitioner.
Can Masseter Botox slim my jawline?
Some patients notice a softer, slimmer jaw contour as the muscle relaxes over time, alongside relief from tension and grinding. The jaw reduction effect can appear as facial slimming.
Do I need a follow-up appointment?
If it’s your first time having Masseter Botox with us, we’d recommend booking a follow-up so we can check your results together and determine whether the amount of botox used was adequate to achieve your treatment goals.
Safety, Suitability & Aftercare
Your safety, wellbeing and natural results are always our priority. Here you’ll find essential information about who Masseter Botox is suitable for, possible side effects, aftercare advice and our clinical review process.
Is Masseter Botox Right for You?
Masseter Botox is generally suitable for most adults experiencing jaw tension, teeth grinding, or TMJ-related discomfort. As with any botulinum toxin treatment, it isn’t right for everyone — during your consultation we’ll check whether it’s a safe and appropriate option for you.
You may not be suitable for Masseter Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or any of its ingredients, or have a neuromuscular condition such as Myasthenia Gravis. Certain medications can also affect suitability, so please tell us about anything you’re currently taking.
This isn’t an exhaustive list — your consultation with our Clinical Director or an experienced nurse practitioner is where we properly assess your individual suitability.
Possible Side Effects
As with any Botulinum Toxin injection, some temporary and localised effects are possible. These commonly include mild bruising, swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site, which usually settle within a few days.
Less commonly, some people notice temporary weakness when chewing or a change in the appearance of their smile while the treatment takes effect. Very rarely, Botulinum Toxin can spread beyond the treated area and cause wider muscle weakness — if you notice anything like this, please contact us.
We’ll talk through the specific risks relevant to you during your consultation, and side effects are minimised by careful dosing and an experienced injector. Side effects are generally uncommon when treatment is carried out by an experienced, skilled practitioner.
Aftercare
After your Masseter Botox treatment, avoid massaging or applying pressure to the treated area for the rest of the day. Try to stay upright for a few hours afterwards, and avoid strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day.
You can return to normal activities immediately, including light chewing and speaking. Mild bruising or tenderness can be managed with a cold compress if needed. If you notice any signs of infection, unexpected weakness, or anything that concerns you, please contact us.
