Introducing new treatments

Here at LPA HQ (London) we have finally started offering PDO thread lifts. As with all aesthetic treatments, my preferred approach is to sit back and watch how other practitioners get on with new treatments and procedures before we decide whether or not to proceed. This way we allow others to work out the best approaches and address any issues that are inevitable with new treatments.

One of the most common questions we have been asked since we started with threads is ‘how long does a thread lift last?’

So the short answer is around 2 years.

The longer answer is that the threads themselves will dissolve in the first 3- 6 months. The threads are made of a material with a long medical name shortened to PDO – much easier! This material is naturally broken down in the body by a process called hydrolysis.

Whilst they are present in the skin they work by stimulating collagen production and by pulling the skin upwards and lifting the saggy look that happens as we start to age.

How long does a thread lift last will (as with  all treatments) vary from person to person but these timelines give you an idea of what to expect.

Not the only question

‘How long does a thread lift last?’ is not the only consideration here. This procedure as with all ‘effective’ anti ageing treatments does have some ‘downtime’. You may experience some swelling, tenderness and bruising is always a possibility. If you are a London office worker or work from home on zoom, these are important factors to consider in planning. These unwanted effects, however, can be easily managed – mainly by being aware that this can happen. Depending on the type of treatment you are recommended you may also be advised to take antibiotics for a few days following treatment to reduce any infection risks.

Once all that is done you will delight over your new uplifted look. This treatment provides an alternative to a surgical procedure – avoiding the associated costs and downtime.
