Here we are back on the January rollercoaster of new starts, healthier lifestyles and promises of change. Looking after our skin is certainly not something that can or should be addressed once a year. Our skin is changing every single minute of every hour of every day. There are however some treatments that are better suited to certain times of the year and skin peels falls into that category massively. Not only does a skin peel epitomise the January ethos of fresh starts but there are other reasons why our Clinical Director, Elizabeth Rimmer books herself in for a Perfect Peel every January without fail.
The ‘cleansing’ experience of the peel prepares my skin for a new product regime, however simple or convoluted I am opting for.
Visible peeling is never a great look (unless you’re a diehard selfie lover) but January and February are usually my quietest months on the social calendar, so keeping a low profile is easy.
Short days and the lack of sunshine make the aftermath easier to manage, as you should try to avoid sun exposure in the weeks following a peel.
The deterioration in diet, increase in alcohol intake and reduction in exercise that despite my best efforts seems to happen every Christmas leaves my skin looking flat & tired, I love how a peel addresses these issues in one session.
