What is The Perfect Peel good for?

Our Clinical Director Elizabeth Rimmer makes no secret of her penchant for The Perfect Peel, read on for her take on this transformative skin treatment:

Did you know that chemical peels have been around an awfully long time? Think Cleopatra bathing in her milk baths – she was benefiting from the lactic acid keeping her beautiful skin silky smooth.

Nowadays however when I mention a chemical peel – most people conjure up the image of THAT scene from Sex & The City!!😱

So, my personal love for Chemical peel treatments is basically down to The Perfect Peel.

What is The Perfect Peel good for?

The Perfect Peel works on pigmentation, fine lines, scarring, dullness, enlarged pores, dry skin build up, scarring, acne scarring. It’s not a magic cure -what is? But it does get visible results and it does give your skin the kick that it needs now and then.

What’s in the Perfect Peel?

The main ingredient that differentiates The Perfect Peel from its competitors is Glutathione. This is important because it is the mother of all antioxidants and great for the skin. The top secret blend of acids combined with glutathione & vitamins (including Vitamin C) & minerals means that the results are so much more superior than other peels (in my humble opinion).

How often should I have The Perfect Peel?

The answer to this, really depends on your starting point & your expectations. Personally I opt for twice a year – I’ve built it into my skin regime. I have recurring pigmentation each summer (I’m very good with SPF but I do enjoy swimming and the outdoor life).

You may choose to have a single Perfect Peel in advance of a special event. You may also opt for a series of treatments to help reduce acne scarring. There is no one single answer to this.

Will my face fall off with The Perfect Peel?

The Perfect Peel has a round 7 day recovery period (or downtime as I call it). Peeling usually starts 1 or 2 days after the treatment and is usually completely done by day 7. It is noticeable peeling and so if you are especially keen to keep your skin regime to yourself you will need time away from work & to do some zoom meetings with a ‘broken camera’ you know that one- right? 😉

This process is usually complete by day 7.

Why is the downtime for the Perfect Peel more intense than typical peels?

This may be because you are comparing The Perfect Peel (a medium depth peel) with a light peel. These days light peels are used a lot in beauty treatments and home treatments. This peel is going to adder issues that originate from deeper down into the skin. The downtime and discomfort from most medium depth peels makes them really undesirable whereas, armed with the knowledge of what to expect, The Perfect Peel is completely manageable and the results undeniable.

Will my skin return to normal after The Perfect Peel?

Chemical peels are best carried out as a part of an ongoing regime. In order to get the very best from the treatment you need to commit to daily SPF and would also benefit enormously from using medical skincare. It can be a really good time to rethink or reinvigorate your skincare regime. To keep things simple, I usually opt for The Perfect A, B & C following a Perfect Peel. It makes sense in my mind to stick with products that have been designed specially to complement the treatment.

Are there any skins not suitable for The Perfect Peel?

There are scenarios common to most aesthetic treatments which would make some people unsuitable – such as pregnancy, breast feeding and a few others. In some situations it may be that you are advised you would need to use products to prepare the skin for treatment (this is always beneficial but occasionally we may insist on it).

When is the best time for a Perfect Peel?

You can have a perfect peel any time of year – you simply need to manage your sun exposure. For that reason, I always opt to have mine between October and April  – usually one at the start and one at the end. The most important aspect to planning the Perfect Peel is that 7 days following treatment, the rest is perfectly manageable!
