New Treatment Alert! Here at LPA we are now offering fat dissolving injections. Fat dissolving injections (or injectable lipolysis) has been around as a treatment option for some time now. One of the main issues I had with many of the treatments on the market is the discomfort in having the treatment. We have finally discovered a product on the market that gives fantastic results but without the pain!! Win -win right?
What is it?
Our fat dissolving injections are a combination of two main ingredients. One is, deoxycholate which is a man-made copy of a substance that occurs naturally in the body. This substance helps us to absorb and digest fat. That is combined with an ingredient that is a derivative of the soy bean. So the most important thing to know about that, is that if you have got an allergy to soy, you are not suitable for this treatment.
What it isn’t
So just to be really clear about it, this is not a treatment for being overweight or for obesity. We do actually have another treatment option for that. We have a medical weight loss management program using a prescribed medication. So if your issue is more with general weight and size then this would be more suitable.,
For those of you with pockets of fat that no matter what you do, you cannot shift them – this is for you. Common areas for treatment include under the chin, the tummy, the ‘love handles’, bra strap overhang – anywhere in fact that has a collection of fat cells that is out of synch with the rest of the body.
Number of Treatments Needed
With regards to planning and what to expect, we would usually recommend that you plan for up to 3 treatments if treating a ‘small area’. A small area may be under the chin or a small pocket of fat elsewhere. A ‘large area’ would likely be the tummy, the love handles, the bra strap overhang. These types of areas will need between 3 and 6 treatments. Each treatment would be separated by the space of one month. This guidance can sound vague, but it really is individual to each person. Following a consultation you may have a better idea of how many treatments, but it will always be a guide rather than an absolute.

Results
In terms of how long it takes to see results, it can be anything from a few days to a couple of weeks. The smaller the area, the less number of treatments you need to treat, and also the quicker you will see results. Larger areas will increase the number of treatments you need to have and can be a little bit slower before you notice those improvements, but they do come! How is the treatment given? You will receive a series of injections. We would usually start with some numbing cream just to take the edge off. It is actually a really comfortable procedure, but I know you guys like the security of a little numbing cream. So a little bit of numbing cream followed by series of almost painless injections. Then you are good to go.
What to expect afterwards
This treatment as with ALL injectables, runs the risk of creating some bruising in the skin. It is also very common to experience swelling. Now swelling is not such an issue when treating areas of the body that can be easily covered, however when treating under the chin (a very popular treatment) this can be more challenging to manage. It is noticeable, so my advice, unless you are super bold, is to have a few days to yourself following this treatment. To allow for the swelling to subside.
How does it work?
PPC works by breaking down the fat cell wall, triggering a release of the fatty content of the cell. This precedes an inflammatory response in the skin, which helps the body to metabolise everything out. When you get an inflammatory response, you not only release all of these different chemicals that clear up the debris left by cell breakdown, but you also get a retraction of the skin. This means that there is a simultaneous firming effect. you’re not going to be left with kind of loose, baggy skin. Additionally you will also get a stimulation of collagen, which again, will help with that skin firming.
Lifestyle measures
I’m always going to endorse lifestyle measures, because I think it’s really important. Most of us, if not all of us can do something to improve our lifestyle, diet and exercise. It is really important not to overlook that.
Summing up
