10 things you should know about Botox
Botox is a ‘prescription only’ medication. It has so many different uses across the body. For the face, its main use is to prevent deep wrinkles and lines from settling in, however it can also be used in the face to reduce sweating and pore size. Botox in the face can help with realxing the jaw muscles to prevent teeth grinding, imrpoving a gummy smile and enhancing the look of a cobble stone chin.
Botox is a prescibed medicine, so it should be administered to you by someone who has the ability to prescribe medications, such as a prescribing nurse or a doctor. Look for accreditations like 'Save Face' or 'CQC' registration.
There are risks asscoiated with every single treatement and Botox is no different. The common risks are really minor and easy to deal with, as long as you know what to expect. Redness and swelling will typically only last for a few hours. Bruising may last a little longer but will be very slight if it occurs at all. Occasionally, especially with your first treatment, there may be a minor asymmetry which can be adressed at your follow up appointment.
